Give Your Food a Hug!

Do you know the struggle of cutting a lemon or cucumber in half and then you forget about it in the fridge? You find it a week later rotting away, maybe even being covered in mold. If you identify with this story I would love to show you how to avoid this! I introduce to you a green and reusable way to keep fruits and vegetables fresh, plus diminish the amount of food waste overall - keep reading!

Two years ago I was in the exact same situation - my avocados and limes were going bad because I did not want to use cling wrap (plus, avocado toast was not a daily treat for me!). Back then I was already eco-conscious and hated to produce waste. I only had a little bit of space in the refrigerator, so putting my fruits and veggies in bowls or on plates was not possible. Eventually I decided to search the web for solutions to save food from getting spoiled. Let me tell you, I hit pay dirt! The most beautiful and handy tools were: Food Huggers!

They come in various colors, from green, to purple, red and blue! And they also carry a set of two green Avocado Huggers for when you do not finish the whole fruit. Those are shaped with a pocket for the pit, but you can also push it in when you have got the half without the pit left. I purchased one of those, plus a green pack of four (which is now a fresh greens five pack). Food Huggers are so convenient! You are able to reduce your plastic and food waste in a easy and neat way. Made out of 100% BPA and Phthalate free food save silicone you can always use it for cut fruits and veggies and to cover open tins, cans or jars without a lid.

I even use them to cover my drinking glasses whenever I have one around my cats, so they will not knock over my beverages - it works pretty well! If you have curious kids at home, Food Huggers are a safe and eco-friendly way to cover glassware and small containers. And they work great on fresh food. Whenever you have a tomato, zucchini, apple or pitahaya laying around cut in half, just put it into a fitting Food Hugger and you can store it on the counter, in your fridge or even in your freezer. They come in different sizes so it is possible to cover almost everything. Visit their official website to learn more about their products. And if you are interested in getting Food Huggers for you AND your friends, they offer a great bundle!

What do you use to reduce your plastic and food waste? Have you ever thought about using something else than saran wrap or freezer bags to store fruits, vegetables and open cans and jars? Let me know in the comments!

Greetings, dear readers!

Thank you so much for 116 000 views! I apprechiate every single one, as it helps me to grow bigger.

It has been quite a while now since I shared recent information about me on here. Especially considering that I unpublished around 93% of my posts you may not know me well, yet. I would like to introduce myself - again - with 50 personal facts you may need to be aware of. I am sure there are people reading this who still know the 2013 me, and I wish those and all the new readers out there a fun and interesting time going through the facts and figures which define me in 2018. 6. I have quite a huge amount of relatives with four of them being my siblings. One is my beloved twin sister KayKay. I adore her.
  7. Another person I really love and care about is my boyfriend. I am taken for almost three and a half years now, hoping for our relationship to last forever.
  8. I had to discontinue my studies because of financial issues.
  9. My mobile is still always on silent and I barely read messages or respond to them. [sorry]

  14. Psychosomatic pain really bothers me in daily life, but I don't want to take pain relievers. Meh.
  15. Black cats are fascinating. That is probably the reason why I have two of them. The female one is one and a half years old and the elder, male ball of fur is three years old now. I added pictures of them at the top of my post.

  24. I am a very logical, rational, radical thinker, open-minded and liberal. And friendly.
  25. You probably would not speak to me in person because it is quite rare that I interact in social ways. I am an introvert, a very extreme one.

  27. I have been to a System Of A Down concert in June 2017. I was there on my own - which was a huge step for me - and I was able to meet John and Shavo backstage. I have never felt better. Honestly. I yearn to meet the rest of the band, too. Hopefully.
  28. This year I am going to see Fall Out Boy, thanks to my amazing twin sister KayKay!
  29. There is also the possibility that I might see Lana Del Rey with my best friend Jess. Fingers crossed!

  46. I wanted to live in a historically important era, but having the right-wing scene gain popularity was not exactly what I wanted to experience.
  47. I am pretty interested in web design and I might do that as a job. Media and marketing are fields I can see myself working on for a long time. Those combine information technology and creativity.
  48. On the other hand I would love to study in the science sector - physics, astronomy, chemistry, biology and of course mathmatics.
  49. This took me half a night. I am not so creative when it comes to my person. Still, I hope you enjoyed this!

Last Friday Night - Jan 5th, 2018

Hi whoever just reads this!

Nice to meet you, kind of. To those who know my blog from the past years, you may still remember my Last Friday Nights! To the new readers out there, here is a quick explanation: I like to post a list of things I did on my last Friday night every now and then. The list is basically always the same, there are specific topics I give an answer to, very diverse, and they sort of describe my Friday evenings.

January 5th was the last day of my Christmas/New Year vacation [by the way, have a successful, peaceful and pleasant New Year 2018!] - except from the weekend afterwards - so I was able to spend my day however I wanted to. My dearest best friend Jess was so generous to ask me out on a date and we did indeed meet that evening. That may be recognizable in my following answers. Enjoy the read!

Seen: This time I did not see any movies, but my perfect friend Jess [better than any movie!]. It is impossible for one not to admire her splendid air and miscellaneous virtuosity. I have to admit, I adore how she expresses herself and her feelings just as much as her appearance.
Read: My blog actually. I had to decide which posts I am going to keep online because some of them are okay for me to uphold.
Heard: Miley Cyrus' new album Younger Now. You have to be honest, she did mature a lot, remembering her MTV VMA performance with Robin Thicke in 2013. Actually, there are more artists who left their craziness, kind of infantile immaturity and got out a great album in 2017! I might blog about those grown up musicians, probably reviewing some of my recent favorite LPs.
Done: As I mentioned earlier, I was out with Jess. We spent almost six hours together at our local McDonald's - I'm not very proud of choosing a fast food restaurant, but it's our usual spot to meet and apart from that, I barely eat out at fast food places.
Drank: Hot milk chocolate. Plus a few sips of my friend's coke.
Thought: Actually, throughout half of the date with Jess I had to think about the complicated, but educational years I spent at school, until eventually graduating. Since then my life kind of went downhill. School was on of the constant, absolute anchors I lost in 2014. Honestly, I yearn to go back and enjoy my life once again.
Wished: Whenever I am around Jess I strongly wish to just look half as good as her. She is perfect, really.
Annoyed by: My life, obviously. It is tiring to see others handle their life way better than I do.
Excited by: Jess. No explanation needed.
Clicked: While being with friends - it does not happen often at all - I try to stay offline. And since I was out for almost six hours there was simply no time to go on blogs or instagram, the internet overall. And let me tell you, I appreciated being offline for a while.

Now chances are very high that you precisely know how my last Friday night was like AND that I truly love my best friend. Do you also have a sweetheart to call your friend who is always able to make you feel better? Text or call to tell them how important they are to you!

You can sign up via e-mail on the right to never miss a post again. Additionally you can follow me on instagram and bloglovin'! Thanks for reading, see you soon!

Welcome to Fan.tasti.que' in 2018!

Hey everyone, have a successful 2018 and welcome to my blog!

You may have noticed big changes here. I recently decided to start all over with my blog - at 115k views.

I have not been updating it for quite a while now, plus I was a bit unsatisfied. I mean, all the posts I wrote in the last few years do not represent me properly anymore. My personality did change a bit, especially when it comes to personal health, the environment and my interests. Yet, I kept some of my old posts which are kind of crucial and important to me and this blog, but from now on stay tuned and have fun discovering a not so different girl!

The last three years were a burden to me in so many ways. I still have not decided which career to choose, I have financial and health problems, I am living on my own with two adorable cats which are hard work for real and I honestly miss my deep relationship with my boyfriend. Do not get me wrong, we are still a couple, but I had to move out and get myself an apartment. Now it is just that I do not see my boyfriend that much anymore. That is a serious issue, especially for me - thanks to my several mental illnesses.

Yes, I was diagnosed with a few of them in the last two years, after struggling for a decade. My mental and physical health were not important in my teenage years, so I had to cope with my mind on my own. But now I am seeing a psychiatrist regularly and I am on medication. I would not say I feel better but some days the pills are able to numb my feelings a bit. If you have any questions about (my) mental illnesses - feel free to contact me. I am actually a nice person and, even though I dislike people in person, I do not mind talking to others online. Just be aware that sometimes I just will not reply for five months straight.

So - regarding my blog - I am going to get personal. You will read about my interests, products I like and dislike, people, blogs, companies and organizations I want to share with you, tips on life in general, and whatever comes to my mind. You can further follow me on instagram (@greenmindedgirl) where I post different photos every now and then. Also feel free to add me and my blog on bloglovin'! I also have some twitter and tumblr accounts, but I would like to keep those private.

That is actually everything for now. I look forward to many more views, new readers and keep in mind - my inboxes are always open for you!

X

Dear readers,

lately I haven't been feeling good and I am still laying in bed. I am sick and my stomach hurts really bad, especially whenever I drink or eat. On Sunday I was out with a friend and we spent the whole night together. Yesterday, that means on Monday, I was really motivated and therefore I've been jogging for about one and a half hours. My kind of personal coach told me it is about duration, not distance when it comes to jogging. And now I try to run on a low pace. I'm bound to say, I feel incredibly amazing now. I also lost around one and a half kilograms within the last two days, even though I rather eat in a normal way. I hope to stay motivated in the next few days, weeks, etc. because I am trying to lose further few kilograms. I've been stuck on a specific weight and it is actually really hard for me to lose weight, even if it is only like one kilogram. By the time my scale showed me that I am a little bit lighter again, I was instantly motivated. Hopefully I stay in such a good mood. Right now I am listening to Ed Sheeran's album X (it is pronounced multiply) and this is the actual reason for this post. I fell in love with all those songs.

Lobkarten

This is a post about a great idea based in Germany so the products shown here are German. Nevertheless I also want to show it to all the non-German speaking people out there and spread this wonderful idea!

Lobkarten is a German word - for those who wonder - and its meaning is similar to praise cards. A couple of weeks ago I came across those cards while reading blogs. A blogger wrote about them and hyperlinked their website. In my opinion designing cards and sharing praise and compliments with them is an adorable idea! I did take a great interest in this kind of campaign, so I summarily decided to browse the web page. It is THIS ONE, unfortunately it is only available in German. You can, of course still leave a comment on the bottom of their page! The concept of this praise project by Anja Meuter, the manageress, and her team is giving praise, compliments and thank-you notes to those who already deserved it for so long. You can do it via internet or you order a set of cards. Therefor you need to write an e-mail to lob@meuter.de, I am sure they can help you along if you want to get a set. Further they have a mission: praising, praising, praising. It is not a big deal to tell people every so often how much you thank them for being there, how much you appreciate their presence, how glad you are them being your workmate, friend, etc. But I have to confess that I do sometimes forget to do that. And those cards are just the perfect idea to brighten up someone's day! The cards come in different styles and say for example "You are priceless", "You rock", "WOW", "Thanks for your contribution", "You make me happy", "Thank you for everything" and there is even one for my blog - it says "fantastic"! All in all I got 33 cards and I love them! A big applause for the so called Lob-Team and thank you very much for the set, again! Below you can see some photos taken from the Lobkarten!

The set came in this cute package. It looks so precious!
